Senior Kelly Devlin gave Vanderbilt a 5-4 lead in the 42nd minute off a feed from Hickman. In that span, the Dores’ offense regrouped. VU gave up a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the second half, but the Commodore defense stepped up and would not allow another score until the match’s final minute. Sophomore Kate Hickman scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute, which was followed in the 29th minute by another goal from Roguski on an eight-meter try. The Cardinal would tie the match at 2-2 in the 19th minute, but Vanderbilt would tally two mores times in the first half to take a 4-2 lead into the break. Vanderbilt would take the lead four minutes later when senior Jess Roguski drew a foul and scored on the subsequent free position shot. In the 12th minute, senior Lauren Peck put the Commodores on the board off an assist from classmate Michelle Allen. The game would slow down from there, as both teams felt each other out. Stanford scored the game’s first goal only two minutes in to take an early lead.
